Frequently Asked Questions
Is hair included with my appointment?
No. Clients are responsible for providing their own hair.
However, The Braiddown Bar has a wholesale account with YG Wigs that allows clients to receive discounted pricing on select hair when ordered through us. If you’d like us to order your hair on your behalf, please contact The Braiddown Bar directly by phone before your appointment.
Can Miracle Braids be done with bulk hair?
No. At this time, Miracle Braids are only offered using feather crochet hair. We do not perform this service with traditional bulk braiding hair.
Are you currently hiring?
Yes! Our next round of hiring is scheduled for mid-July.
If you’re interested in joining The Braiddown Bar team, please follow our website and social media pages for upcoming opportunities and application details.
I don’t see the braid pattern I want listed. What should I book?
Book according to the size and quantity of braids you would like.
Your braid pattern can be discussed during your consultation at the beginning of your appointment. Our braiders will recommend the best pattern based on your desired style, hair density, and installation method.
What is the difference between a Braid Tender and a Braiddown Partner?
For clients, there is very little difference.
Both Braid Tenders and Braiddown Partners provide services exclusively through The Braiddown Bar using the same pricing structure and service menu.
The main difference is their relationship with the company. Regardless of who you book with, all providers are expected to meet The Braiddown Bar’s standards for quality, professionalism, and client care.
Can I book an appointment with Echo?
If you are an existing client, you may access Echo’s private booking page through the Priority Booking system.
If you are not an existing client, Echo is not currently accepting new clients. At this time, the only opportunity for new clients to be serviced by Echo is through the Jayda Way Fundraiser appointments offered on Fridays, when available.
Do you offer shampoo services?
Yes. Shampoo services are available as an add-on service and can be selected during booking when applicable.
I booked a Takedown Consultation. Do I need to come in person?
No.
Please read the service description carefully before booking. For Takedown Consultations, the consultation form itself is your consultation. The appointment time you select simply reserves a timeframe for us to review your submission and provide an update regarding pricing, estimated timing, and availability.
You do not need to come into the shop.
I don’t see sew-ins listed on the website anymore. Are they no longer available?
Sew-ins are still available; however, Maya is currently the only Braid Tender offering this service.
Because Maya will be going on maternity leave soon, sew-ins are currently limited to existing clients. We are actively hiring and training additional sew-in specialists to help meet demand in the future.
How much do takedowns cost?
Takedowns are charged at an hourly rate of $45 per hour and are billed in 30-minute increments based on the actual time required.
Detangling is included in your takedown service. Shampoo services are available as an add-on for $30.
Because every installation is different, total pricing varies depending on factors such as braid size, hair length, buildup, and overall condition of the install.
Why doesn’t the takedown service include a shampoo?
Our takedown service is designed to help clients with the most labor-intensive part of the process: removing the style and safely detangling the hair.
Many of our clients prefer to shampoo at home to save money, while others choose to add a professional shampoo service. By separating the services, clients only pay for the services they actually need.
I would like to learn from Echo. How do I sign up for a class or lesson?
At this time, Echo is primarily offering education through her online SKOOL Community.
The community includes tutorials, guidance, and educational content designed to help braiders improve their skills and gain access to techniques and industry knowledge directly from Echo. Additional educational opportunities may be announced in the future.
Do you offer one-on-one lessons with Echo?
Not at this time.
Echo’s educational focus is currently centered around serving students through the SKOOL Community while completing cosmetology school and expanding The Braiddown Bar.
Be sure to follow our website and social media channels for future educational opportunities.

ABOUT US
When you walk through our doors, you’re not just visiting a braiding establishment — you’re stepping into a space where every braider was chosen with purpose.
At The Braiddown Bar, our Braid Tenders aren’t hired simply because they know how to braid. They’re selected because they lead with character, show up with a willingness to learn, and hold themselves to a high standard of customer service. Skill matters — but so does the person behind the hands.
Every Braid Tender at BDB is trained as a Braiddown Specialist, meaning their focus goes beyond getting the hair done. They’re intentional about understanding what you need your Braiddown to do — whether that’s versatility for multiple styles, functionality for your lifestyle, a tension-free install, or longevity that keeps your hair healthy and protected long after you leave the chair.
The Braiddown Bar is the world’s first and only DIY assistance braid shop — and it was built with the braider community in mind. We recognized a real gap: very few establishments were willing to offer Braiddown services as a standalone experience. We saw the demand, and we answered it. Our commitment is to give every Braiddown the time and intentionality it deserves, so that our clients can walk away not only with a solid foundation — but with the confidence that comes from knowing they saved money without sacrificing quality.
